About this Position:
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) will oversee the administrative and operational functions of the museum. They will connect operational excellence to the museum's vision and culture by creating standards and benchmarks, improving processes, and managing professional development across the museum.   Additionally, the CAO will play a leading role in any upcoming capital campaign plans.
This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

You understand and epitomize the mission, vision, values, and goals of Kidspace Children’s Museum, and have a working knowledge of non-profit governance and mission-driven organizations.

The following positions report directly to the CAO:
  • People Operations Manager
  • Development Director
In addition, the CAO will manage our outsourced accounting, finance, benefits, and HR vendors.

Job Responsibilities
Operations
  • Lead the performance of the team, ensuring staff receives effective onboarding, training, and performance management guidance.
  • Sustainably streamline the operational management of the museum.
  • Oversee capital improvement projects and prepare capital budgets.  Work alongside our Experience team on exhibit projects and other facility improvements.
  • Incorporate principles of DEAI into all departments and functions.  Promote a culture of respect among staff that rewards collaboration, accountability, and learning.
  • Oversee all safety programs and training.
Finance
  • Coordinate the annual budget, accounts payable, and work across teams to ensure best practices are implemented.
  • Work with our outsourced accounting firm to ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Under the direction of the CEO and Finance committee, implement long and short-term financial goals, including endowment and investment management.
Development
  • Create and execute a strategic plan for fundraising to increase contributed revenue, re-engage lapsed donors, and launch a capital campaign.
  • Drive improvements in donor data collection and analysis, reporting, and communications.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years as an operational executive, including experience managing HR issues and processes
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and DEAI principles
  • History of accomplishments in driving results, team building, and effective communication
  • Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working at non-profit organizations
  • Experience working in early education
  • Master’s or advanced degree


Compensation & Other Benefits:
$145,000-$155,000 per year
