Senior Exhibits Manager

 

Position Overview

The Senior Exhibits Manager is responsible for developing the unique playful experiences that make Kidspace Children’s Museum the premiere children’s museum in Southern California. In support of our ambitious experience development efforts, the Senior Exhibits Manager leads collaborative project teams in the development, construction, and management of educational, play-based exhibits and experiences for children and families.

The Senior Exhibits Manager reports to the Chief Experience Officer and manages a team of 2.

To be considered for this role, writing samples and a digital portfolio of completed experience design projects will be required after the phone screen.

You are a talented creative professional, a storyteller who understands the power of children, curiosity, and imagination, and how to celebrate everyone’s creativity through unique experiences and environments. Your work demonstrates a commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse audiences.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Creates experience narratives that engage children and set the stage for play modalities. Develops exhibits that are child-first and audience-driven, centering accessibility and inclusion as core values.
  • Develops guest experiences that engage children intellectually, physically, and emotionally suing play-based learning strategies.
  • Writes creative project documents that inspire teams, partners, and funders; clearly presents ideas. 
  • Understands audience needs through research; continuously evaluates experiences and proposes improvements.
  • Leads collaborations across all departments and levels of the organization including a variety of vendors and artists.
  • Manages resources to achieve goals; responsible for project timelines and budgets.
  • Actively contributes to our culture of inclusivity, welcome, collaboration, and play.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in experience/exhibition design field
  • Proven success as a project manager
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalent field desired

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in grant writing
  • Experience working with early learners and/or developing educational content
  • Working fluency in Spanish

Benefits & Compensation:

  • $75,000 to $85,000 annually
  • Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, generous vacation policy, and employer matched 403(b) plan
  • This is a full-time, hybrid role. Will be onsite a minimum of 2 days per week.
